Zeiss Planetarium
Tino Brandt

On 15 September 1995, the Kassablanca socio-cultural centre held a concert with the cult band “Goethes Erben” at the Jena planetarium. About 30 neo-Nazis, armed with baseball bats, tried to force their way into the building. When the attack was noticed, however, the doors could be locked in time. The neo-Nazis tried in vain to smash the glass facade. An off-duty police officer who witnessed the attack alerted the police headquarters, only a few hundred metres away. The police were able to arrest most of the attackers. When their identities were established, it emerged that they came from all over Thuringia. Late that evening, ten more neo-Nazis were taken into custody at Jena’s Holzmarkt, among them Tino Brandt, initiator of the Thuringia Heimatschutz. The police investigated on charges of breach of the public peace. That Brandt was already, at this time, an informant for the Thuringia State Office for the Protection of the Constitution only became known later.
