Apartment as a Neo-Nazi Scene Meeting Place
An apartment on Marthastraße in the east of Nuremberg was known to anti-fascists in the mid-1990s as a neo-Nazi scene meeting place. For example, on 12 February 1995, an anti-fascist demonstration was held—starting from the then still existing left-alternative cultural center “KOMM” opposite the main railway station—against the “Nazi hangout on Nuremberg’s Marthastraße.” “We’re not standing by any longer! We’re taking action!” read the flyer.
As only became apparent years after the NSU’s self-exposure in 2011, later NSU terrorists were also guests at the Nazi apartment, including Beate Zschäpe, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2018. This was reported by a defector from the neo-Nazi scene to the joint investigative team of the Nürnberger Nachrichten newspaper and Bayerischer Rundfunk.
