Winzerclub

In 1991, the “Winzerclub” (today “Hugo”) opened on Hugo-Schrade-Straße in Jena-Winzerla as a meeting place for young people in the district, supervised by street workers. Uwe Mundlos was among the young people who helped renovate the premises. At the club’s opening on 14 September 1991, he told the newspaper: “We looked for a space and got a space.” And: “If we have problems, we can talk to the street workers, and if push comes to shove, we go for a drink.” At the time, Mundlos already belonged to a group of up to 20 young people from the right-wing spectrum who called themselves the “Winzerclan.” In 1999 the city drew the consequences and closed the “Winzerclub.” In September 2011, the youth club “Hugo” was opened on the same site in a newly built and restructured form.
