Bomb Attack
Between 19 and 21 December 2000, a gas cylinder filled with about one kilogram of black powder was planted in a grocery store owned by Iranian nationals in Cologne’s old town. The bomb was concealed inside a Christmas stollen tin. Mundlos or Böhnhardt posed as customers and left the tin behind in the shop, claiming they would return for a forgotten wallet. A month later, on 19 January 2001, the shop owner’s 19-year-old daughter, Mashia M., opened the tin. She suffered severe injuries from the explosion.
