The post office branch on Max-Planck-Straße in Zwickau was the site of the fifth robbery attributed to the NSU, on 5 July 2001. It was a beautiful summer day when two masked individuals entered the post office branch in the late morning and violently forced open the safe. When other customers tried to enter the branch, they were injured with pepper spray. The two perpetrators left the post office branch with a haul of just under 75,000 DM.
