Parental Apartment of Uwe Mundlos

Uwe Mundlos (born 1973) lived until 1997 in Winzerla in his parents’ apartment on Max-Steenbeck-Straße together with his disabled brother. He attended the Polytechnic Secondary School “Magnus Poser” in Jena, celebrated his Jugendweihe in 1988, and, after an apprenticeship at the Carl Zeiss company, intended to obtain his Abitur via the second-chance education route at the Thüringen-Kolleg in Ilmenau. In 1994 he was drafted into the Bundeswehr. Mundlos grew up in a district that, according to the police department’s 1993 crime statistics, was a hotspot for violence-prone young people aged 15 to 25.
