The official memorial for the victims of the “NSU” acts of violence was inaugurated on 21 March 2013, the International Day against Racism. It commemorates the three NSU victims murdered in Nuremberg: Enver Şimşek, Abdurrahim Özüdoğru, and İsmail Yaşar.
The memorial consists of a stele bearing the names of the NSU victims and four ginkgo trees – three for the Nuremberg victims, one for all other victims of right-wing extremist violence. It is located at the Kartäusertor, in the immediate vicinity of the “Way of Human Rights” (“Straße der Menschenrechte”) designed by Dani Karavan.
