Memorial trees for the murder victims of the NSU

In Schwanenteichpark in Zwickau, the last place of residence of the NSU core group, ten trees on the Ziegelwiese meadow commemorate the ten murder victims of the National Socialist Underground; beneath each tree lies a memorial plaque bearing the name of a victim.

The first tree – an oak for Enver Şimşek – was planted on 8 September 2019, but was sawn down by unknown persons during the night of 3 October 2019. The complete group of trees was inaugurated on 3 November 2019.
